our company history

Barrett Tree Service is a family business established in 1970 by Mike Barrett and now run by his nephew, Andrew Barrett.

Andrew first did a week working for Mike in 1990, aged just 16. Unusually for a tree worker, Andrew has a degree in Banking and International Finance and used to work in the City. Fortunately he has now come to his senses and given up the office life!

Mike and Andrew share a dedication to doing the right thing by our clients. We don’t recommend unnecessary work, we don’t cut corners and our clients are almost always surprised how clean we leave the site.

Meet Our Team

Andrew Barrett

Andrew worked for Mike before heading off to London to study finance and then work in the City. He returned to the family business in 2009 and is much happier – though still has a strong aversion to suits and offices!

Mike Barrett

Company Founder

Mike started the company in 1970 after working for Beeching of Ash and Southern Tree Surgeons. He has a particular interest in conifers and pruning fruit trees. He usually has a book on apple tree pruning by his bedside!
